Integrated Rolfson's First-Ever Acquisition on Schedule
- Company
- Rolfson Oil
- Role
- Vice President of Operations
- When
- 2025
- Category
- M&A Integration
Problem
Rolfson had never acquired a company. The target was about one-third Rolfson's size, and there was no playbook: every part of the preparation had to be built from scratch.
Action
Owned the operational integration: ERP implementation, accounts receivable processes, dispatch, and the management team. Evaluated all 34 incoming staff and made the retain-or-release decisions.
Result
Completed on schedule, with the acquired company's ERP, AR, dispatch, and management team brought onto Rolfson's operations.
What I did
- Built the plan from nothing. With no prior acquisitions at the company, there were no templates, checklists, or lessons to borrow. Built the preparation from scratch.
- Systems. Owned the ERP implementation for the acquired business.
- Accounts receivable. Moved AR processes onto Rolfson’s.
- Dispatch. Integrated dispatch so both operations ran as one.
- People. Evaluated all 34 staff and made the retain-or-release decisions, then integrated the management team.
Results
- Delivered on schedule.
- The experience carried directly into the company’s second acquisition, which I also integrated on schedule. See Second Acquisition.
